h) Synchronizing the playback speed
To achieve a seamless transition between two signal sources, when mixing or cross-fading, it is often
necessary to adjust the beat.
You can do this one of three ways:
• Using the PITCH slider (8). Use the PITCH slider to permanently change playback speed. This function is
used when two tracks have completely different BPMs.
• Using the PITCH BEND +/- buttons (6). Use the PITCH BEND +/- buttons to temporarily change playback
speed. This function is used when two tracks have the same BPM and only the starting point needs to be
adjusted.
• Using the JOG WHEEL. Turning the JOG WHEEL can temporarily change the playback speed. The change
in playback speed depends on the rotating speed of the JOG WHEEL. This function is used when two
tracks have the same BPM and only the starting point needs to be adjusted.
Tap the TAP TEMPO button (14) to the beat of the music to determine a track's BPM (beats per minute). On
the right, the display shows the BPM (beats per minute) value.
PITCH slider
• Activate the PITCH slider (8) by pushing and holding the PITCH button (9) for approx. 3 seconds until the
PITCH button (9) lights up or flashes.
• Briefly push the PITCH button (9) to set the desired pitch range for the PITCH slider (8). 3 LEDs beneath
the PITCH slider (8) display the pitch range.
When the button lights up, the tone pitch changes with the speed setting. When the button flas-
hes, the tone pitch does not change with the speed setting (MASTER TEMPO function).
• Change the playback speed by pushing the PITCH slider (8) up or down. In the middle position, tracks are
played back at the original speed.
PITCH BEND buttons
• Push and hold the relative PITCH BEND +/ button (6) during playback to change the playback speed.
The PITCH BEND - button decreases the speed.
The PITCH BEND + button increases the speed.
• The extent to which the playback speed is changed depends on how long the relative PITCH BEND but-
ton is pushed.
• When the button is released, playback returns to the original speed or to the speed set by the PITCH
slider (8).
