8. INSERTING / REPLACING BATTERIES
The device is operated with two AA batteries.
Remove the cover of the battery compartment (14) on the rear side of the device. Use a small, fl at tool, if
required.
Insert two AA batteries, paying attention to the correct polarity.
The device switches to the date / time setting mode as soon as the batteries were correctly inserted.
Replace the cover on the battery compartment.
The battery charge level indicator (2) indicates the battery charge left. Replace the battery if the battery charge
level is low.
Do not leave fl at batteries in the device. Even batteries protected against leaking can cor-
rode and thus release chemicals which may be detrimental to your health or destroy the
device.
Do not leave batteries lying around carelessly. They might be swallowed by children or pets.
If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
Remove the batteries, if the appliance is not to be used for long while, to prevent leaking.
Leaking or damaged batteries might cause severe burns if they come into contact with the
skin. Therefore, use suitable protective gloves.
Make sure that the batteries are not short-circuited. Do not throw batteries into a fi re.
Batteries may not be recharged or dismantled. There is a risk of explosion.
