f) Application examples
The following are examples of the applications the cable detector can be used for:
• Tracing Cables/Finding Outlets
Switch off the fuse and power down the electrical circuit.
The protective and neutral conductors must be properly connected.
Switch on the transmitter and connect it to phase and the protective conductor (earth) as illustrated.
Move the receiver's sensor head along the wall.
Note: Crossing or parallel cable branches can also be detected with this method.
• Finding Cable Breaks
Switch off the fuse and power down the electrical circuit.
Proceed as described for the test measurement.
Connect the lines you do not need to the same socket with the earth.
Move the receiver over the wall in a circular motion until you have found the interruption.
Note: The cable break must be high-impedance (>100 kOhm).
