Start-up
The section of the power cable not in use can be wound up and stored on the
base of the appliance. Connect the power plug to a shockproof socket.
Prior to first use, carry out at least three toasting
cycles without bread and at maximum power, to
remove the surface protection on the heating ele-
ments. The smell released during this process is
harmless, but you should ensure good ventilation
nevertheless. Always allow the appliance to cool
down a little before switching it on.
Insert the toast slices into the toasting slots. To avoid slices becoming jammed,
they should not be thicker than 25 mm. Insert small slices upright and next
to each other in a toasting slot; this will make it easier to remove them after
toasting.
To begin with set the control knob for the browning degree to medium level.
Push down the bread carriage lever. The appliance switches on and the bread
carriage is held down until the appliance switches off automatically after the
toasting time has elapsed. The toasted bread then pops out of the toasting slot
ready for removal.
Notes on the browning level
If the toast is too light in colour, select a higher browning level. If it is too dark,
set the control knob to a lower level. The figures 1 to 7 serve only for orienta-
tion purposes. The higher the setting, the darker the browning level.
