The label on each blocfor™ automatic fall arrester indicates:
a: The trade name: TRACTEL
b: The name of the product: ex.: B10 galvanized steel,
c: The reference standard followed by the year of application,

e: The EC logo followed by the n° of the Article 11 B notified
body for 0082 production inspection,

Batch number,
g: The serial number, ex: 11xxxx unit manufactured in 2011
indicated on blocfor™ automatic fall arrester label,
h: A pictogram showing that the manual must be read before
use,
aa: Date of next inspection,
ab: Minimum strength of anchor point,
ac: Strap lanyard for horizontal use.
Periodical inspections and repairs
The device must be serviced annually. However, depending
on how frequently the device is used and on the environ-
mental conditions and regulations applicable in the company or
country of use, the periodic inspections may be required more
frequently.
The periodic inspections must be carried out by a qualified
technician in full observance of the manufacturer's inspection
procedures.
Check that the markings are clearly legible on the product
when inspecting the device.
The blocfor™ automatic fall arrester must be inspected at least
once per year by a qualified technician. Return to service is
subject to the technician's approval given in writing.
When a blocfor™ automatic fall arrester has stopped a fall,
it must be inspected by TRACTEL
approved by TRACTEL
disassembly and assembly procedures given in the repair
manual.
Service life of blocfor™
automatic fall arrester
The blocfor™ automatic fall arrester has a service life of
10 years as of the date of manufacture provided it has been
used and maintained in strict observance of the instructions
given in this manual. On expiry of the 10-year period following
manufacture, return to service of the fall arrester is subject
to inspection and approval by a qualified technician.
Note: The blocfor™ automatic fall arrester wire rope and straps
are not subject to the service life recommended below; they
must be inspected each time before use and should be
scrapped should any defect, however minor, is observed.
Blocfor™ automatic fall arrester textile lanyards have a lifespan
of 5 years as from the date of manufacture. Beyond this limit,
they must be destroyed and replaced with new ones.
