Insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet and
use the appropriate On/Off switch to turn on
the side of the coffee maker to be used. The
fi ltration cycle starts.
∙ Removing the freshly brewed tea:
The time the tea is left to stand largely
depends on your personal taste as well as
on the type of leaves used. Take the jug
from the hot-plate and carefully lift out the
tea fi lter. The tea fi lter may be put onto the
closed glass jug to drain off.
∙ Switching off:
The tea may be kept warm inside the jug
by leaving it standing on the hot-plate. The
plate is kept hot for around 35 minutes after
brewing is complete. However, it can also be
switched off earlier by pressing the On/Off
button again.
∙ Disconnecting from the mains:
Remove the plug from the wall socket once
brewing/keeping-warm is complete.
Descaling
∙ Depending on the water quality (lime
content) in your area as well as the
frequency of use, all thermal household
appliances using hot water need
descaling (i.e. removal of lime deposits)
on a regular basis to ensure proper
functioning.
∙ Any warranty claim will be null and
void if the appliance malfunctions
because of insuffi cient descaling.
∙ A lengthening of the brewing time and
increased noise during brewing indicate
that descaling of the coffee maker has
become necessary.
∙ An excessive build-up of lime deposits is
very diffi cult to remove, even when strong
descaling agents are used. It may also
cause the brewing system to leak. We
therefore strongly recommend descaling
the appliance after each thirty to forty
brewing cycles. For descaling, a vinegar
solution may be used.
∙ Mix 80 ml of vinegar essence with the
indicated maximum amount of cold water.
∙ Pour the descaling solution into the water
container, insert a paper fi lter into the fi lter
holder but without adding any ground
coffee as described in section Making
coffee, and let the appliance run through
one fi ltration cycle. Repeat the procedure
if necessary. During descaling, ensure
suffi cient ventilation and do not inhale any
vinegar vapours.
∙ To clean the appliance after descaling, let
it run through 2-3 fi ltration cycles using
clean water only.
∙ Do not pour descalers down enamel
sinks.
Cleaning and care
∙ Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is
disconnected from the power supply and
has completely cooled down.
∙ To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not
clean the appliance with water and do not
immerse it in water.
∙ Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning
solutions.
∙ The housing may be wiped with a
slightly damp lint-free cloth and a mild
household detergent. Wipe thoroughly dry
afterwards.
∙ Dispose of the coffee grounds and rinse
the fi lter. As a natural substance, the
coffee grounds may be composted.
∙ The glass jug, lid, fi lter holder and tea
fi lter may be cleaned in soapy water or in
a dish-washer.
