L. Balance: -5 - +5% (only available in TIG AC mode)
This indicator light lights up when you program
Balance. Balance is used for welding aluminum in
the AC HF or AC LIFT TIG mode. It is used to set
the ratio between the penetration and the cleaning
action of the AC TIG welding arc. The maximum
cleaning of heavily oxidized aluminum or magnesium
alloys is achieved when the Balance is set to -5%.
The maximum weld penetration is achieved when
the Balance is set to + 5%. The neutral setting is 0.
A more negative value has a larger cleaning effect,
ensures less weld penetration and more heat in the
tungsten electrode. This has the disadvantage that
the welding current for a certain tungsten electrode
is reduced, in order to prevent overheating. A more
positive value has the opposite effect and gives a
bigger weld penetration, lesser cleaning effect and
less heat in the tungsten electrode. For maximum
effectiveness, the Balance should ideally be set with
a more positive value, while maintaining a sufficient
level of cleaning for a pollution-free weld pool.
The cleaner the material is for welding, the more
effective it is to weld.
M. Continuous
/Pulsed welding
By turning the control knob (27) you can choose
between continuous and pulsed welding.

3.2 WATER COOLING UNIT

The welding machine comes standard with a water
cooler unit and water-cooled TIG welding torch WK
18. The right cooling agent to use is a mixture of
mono-propylene glycol (for the food industry) or mono-
ethylene glycol (standard) and softened water (ratio
1:4). Softened water can be used as a cooling agent,
although it is not recommended. It does not benefit the
reliability of the water cooling system in the long term
because it does not have the lubrication properties of
glycol. It also offers no protection against freezing.
Ready-to-use cooling agent is available at the dealer. Do
not use the water-cooled TIG welding torch when the
water cooler is not switched on.
