Swivelling the hedge trimmer

Release the lock/release.
Press the control lever and swivel the hedge trimmer into the desired position.
Allow the control lever to click into the recess in the base plate.

Fitting the guide bar and chain

Warning! Wear protective gloves! There is a danger of injury from the sharp
cutting teeth!
Note: pay close attention to the running direction of the saw chain (31) on the
bar (30) and at the base plate.
Depending on wear, the bar (30) can be turned.
Undo the nut (36) using the open-ended spanner.
Remove the sprocket cover (38).
Lay the saw chain (31) over the blade (30) starting at the tip.
Now fit the bar (30) and saw chain (31.
Lay the guide rail (41) over the bar guide (39), while inserting the chain tensioner pin (45)
in the blade hole (40). At the same time, lay the saw chain (31) over the chain sprocket
(43).
Now you can tighten the saw chain (31) by turning adjustment screw (46) clockwise.
Replace the sprocket cover (38) and tighten the nut (36) gently.

Chain tensioning and adjustment check

Note: if chain is difficult to rotate on guide bar or if it binds, too much tension
has been applied. This requires minor adjustment as follows:
Loosen the bar retaining nuts so they are finger tight. Decrease tension by turning the bar
adjustment screw counter clockwise slowly. Move chain back and forth on bar. Continue to
adjust until chain rotates freely, but fits snugly. Increase tension by turning bar adjustment
screw clockwise.
When saw chain has proper tension, hold nose of bar in the uppermost position and tighten
the 2 bar retaining nuts securely.
Caution: a new saw chain stretches, requiring adjustment after as few as 5
cuts. This is normal with a new chain, and the interval between future
adjustments will lengthen quickly.
Caution: if saw chain is too loose or too tight, the sprocket, bar, chain, and
crankshaft bearings will wear more rapidly.

Lubrication

8.12.1

Filling in chain oil

To prevent dirt getting inside the tank, clean the oil tank cap before opening. Check the contents
of the oil tank during sawing work by checking the oil gauge. Close the oil tank cap tightly and
wipe away any spills.
