15. The permissible temperature range for deployment of the HAS device is between -40º and + 50º Celsius
(
).
13
16. The HAS device should be inspected by an authorised expert after each descent as required when
the maximum permissible abseiling work has been attained and at least once annually. This should be
documented in the log book!
17. The average lowering speed is approx. 0.7m per second.
18. Do not abseil over hazardous goods, bulk goods, liquids or obstacles into which you could sink or
otherwise injure yourself through an impact (
19. The line of descent should be free from all obstacles.
Care and storage
1. HAS devices should be protected from the effects of welding flames and sparks, fire, acids, caustic
solutions, extreme temperatures and corrosive environmental influences.
2. Where HAS devices are permanently exposed to the elements you are recommended to lightly lubricate
the wire lanyard with acid-free oil or Vaseline at regular intervals.
3. An HAS device that is only used occasionally should be stored in a dry place away from dust and oil – if
possible in a sealed container – e.g. in a storage box (available as an IKAR accessory). During transport
the HAS device should not be damaged through impact.
4. Any components that have become wet through cleaning or use may only be dried naturally and not
close to fire or other heat sources.
5. Before using disinfectants, you have to contact the manufacturer due to the complex legal product
classifications based on the specific applications and constituents.

Permissible abseiling work:

The value for attaining the permissible abseiling work (W) is max. 500.000 Joule
W = m x g x h x n
Terms:
W = abseiling work (joules), m = mass (kg), g (fall acceleration) = 9,81m/s²,
h = abseiling height (m), n = number of descents
Permissible number of descents when evacuating several people
in succession using the HAS 9, HAS 18 and HAS 30 device:
Device type
Cable length
HAS 9
HAS 18
HAS 30
