9. Range
The transmission range of the radio signals between temperature control-
ler and the receiver (radio switching socket) is up to 150 m under optimum
conditions.
However, the range values refer to the so-called "free field range".
(Range in case of direct sight contact between transmitter and re-
ceiver without any interferences).
In practical operation, however, there are walls, ceilings etc. between the
transmitter and the receiver which reduce the range correspondingly.
Due to the different influences on radio transmission, no specific range can
be guaranteed, unfortunately. Usually, however, operation in a family home
is possible without any problems.
The range may be considerably reduced by:
• Walls, reinforced concrete ceilings, plasterboard walls with metal stand
construction
• Laminated/coated insulating glass panes
• Proximity to metal & conductive objects (e.g. heater)
• Proximity to the human body
• Other devices on the same frequency (e.g. radio headphones, radio speak-
ers)
• Proximity to electrical motors/devices, transformers, mains adapters,
computers
