INSTALLATION
USING FOR THE
FIRST TIME
Place the appliance on a stable flat surface which is neither
hot nor near a heat source. The surface must be dry. Keep
the appliance and its mains cable out of reach of children.
Ensure that the voltage indicated on the rating plate of
the appliance agrees with the mains voltage in your area.
Connect the appliance only to a properly earthed power
point with a minimum output of European 5A/US 8A. (Use a
residual current device (RCD) or seeks the advice of an elec-
trician.) While the appliance is in use, the mains plug must
be accessible in case of an emergency. The manufacturer
declines any liability for accidents caused by faulty or non
existing earthing of the appliance.
If the power point is unsuitable for accommodating the
plug of your appliance, have the power point changed by a
licensed electrician.
Carefully unpack the toaster and remove all of the packaging
material.
Before using for the first time, to eliminate the new smell,
operate the toaster without bread inside for at least 5
minutes. Ensure there is plenty of ventilation in the room.
A short power-supply cord should be used to reduce the
risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a
longer cord.
Longer (detachable power-supply cords or) grounding-type
3-wire extension cords are available and may be used if care
is exercised in their use.
If an extension cord is used,
1. The marked electrical rating of the extension cord
should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the
appliance and
2. The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not
drape over the counter top or table top where it can be
pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.
