FUNCTIONS
The FR-8 has several extra features.
Out Of Range Alarm:
This function will give beeptones if the
handset is getting out of range of anot-
ther handset.
1. Press several times button „Juntil
symbol X starts to blink.
2. Use vor a to select the required
mode:
- No alarm
- Sr (Short range alarm)
- Lr (Long range alarm)
3. Press button 473 times to return to
the idle state. The Out Of Range
alarm is now set.
VOX (Voice Operated Transmission):
When this feature is activated, the FR-8
starts transmitting just by talking into the
microphone.
1. Press several times button „zuntil ®
starts to blink.
2. Use button vor ato switch-
ON or switch-OFF this feature.
3. Press 2 times button +7to exit from
this menu.
External headset: (not supplied):
On the topside of the FR-8, connectors
for an electret microphone and an ear-
piece or headset are fitted. When using a
headset or earpiece with an electret
microphone, the use of the VOX-function
is recommended because this will work
much better and is also easier in use.
Keyboardlock:
The keyboard can be locked. This means
that when the keyboardlock is activated
only the user buttons are acti- ve. No
settings can be changed when the
keyboardlock is active.
1. Press several times button «7 until
the symbol On blinks.
2. Use vor ato activate (ON) or to
deactivate (OFF) the keyboardlock.
3. Press button ¢7 to exit from this
menu.
Key-tones:
Each time a key is pressed, you will hear
a conformation-beeptone. If the function
is Carried out correctly the FR-8 will pro-
duce a low beeptone. If however the
function is incorrect or the function can-
not be changed (for example the key-
board is locked) then the FR-8 produces
a high beeptone.
LED indication:
Each time a function of the FR-8 is acti-
vated, a green LED will light for about 2
seconds.
Signal strength indicator 5:
The display indicates the strength of a
received signal. The stronger the signal,
the more segments of the meter will be
visible.
Low battery alarm:
If the battery of the FR-8 becomes
empty, the FR-8 gives a beep signal and
also an attention logo à on the display
will be visible.
