Operation
a) Inserting the batteries into the outdoor sensor
1. Open the battery compartment cover (D) on the back of the outdoor sensor.
2. Insert two AAA batteries (not included) with correct polarity into the battery compartment of the
outdoor sensor (observe plus/+ and minus/-).
3. After inserting the batteries, all display symbols will appear on the outdoor sensor's LCD
display. The coloured transmitting LED will turn on briefly to indicate that a radio signal is being
transmitted. The outdoor sensor is now ready to use.
4. Replace the battery compartment cover.
The outdoor sensor's batteries should be replaced when the
on the weather station's LCD display. The outdoor sensor also features a battery
level display.
b) Inserting the batteries into the weather station
1. Open the battery compartment cover (1) on the back of the weather station.
2. Insert three AAA batteries (not included) with correct polarity into the battery compartment
(observe plus/+ and minus/-).
3. After inserting the batteries, all display symbols will appear briefly on the LCD display. You will
hear a short beep, indicating that the weather station is ready for use.
4. Replace the battery compartment cover.
In principle, it is possible to operate the product with rechargeable batteries. Due
to the lower voltage (rechargeable battery = 1.2 V, conventional battery = 1.5 V) and
lower capacity of rechargeable batteries, the battery life is shorter compared to
conventional batteries. If you wish to use rechargeable batteries in spite of these
limitations, you must use special NiMH rechargeable batteries with low self-
discharge. We recommend that you use high quality alkaline batteries to ensure
prolonged and safe operation.
c) Setting up and mounting
The weather station can be placed on a level, stable and sufficiently large surface using the stand.
A suitable mat should be used to prevent scratch marks on the surface of valuable furniture.
To ensure optimal DCF reception, the weather station should not be placed next to
other electronic devices, cables and metal objects etc. The weather station and
outdoor sensor should be placed at a distance of about 2 m from sources of
interference. Obstacles that impair radio communication between the two devices,
such as buildings, should also be avoided. The open-air range of the radio signal is
approximately 30 m. This decreases when obstacles are present.
The sensor can also be hung on the wall using the hanger (C) on the back (e.g. with hooks, nails
or screws). The outdoor sensor should be fixed to a wall protected from the weather and direct
sunlight.
Ensure that no cables or wires are damaged during drilling and screwing. We
recommend that you mount the outdoor sensor to the left or right of a window so that
the sensor's display can be read conveniently. Choose a location where the sensor is
not exposed to direct sunlight, otherwise it could lead to errors in the measured values.
Direct precipitation on the outdoor sensor should also be avoided.
d) Setting up a communication channel
After inserting the batteries, the weather station starts searching for the signal from the outdoor
sensor; the synchronisation symbol flashes (situated directly next to the outdoor sensor symbol).
The symbol disappears when the measured values from the outdoor sensor have been received.
The outdoor temperature and humidity are displayed on the LCD display.
If no signal from the outdoor sensor has been received after approx. 3 minutes, press and hold the
SEARCH button (4) for 3 seconds to start a manual signal search.
Do not move the weather station or outdoor sensor during the signal search and do not
press any buttons. The outdoor sensor displays the temperature, humidity and the
number of the communication channel (CH 1) directly on the built-in LCD display.
e) DCF reception
Once the outdoor sensor has been detected, the weather station starts searching for the DCF
signal. During the search for the DCF signal, the radio tower symbol
waves symbol.
Do not move the weather station during this search, and do not press any buttons. If the
DCF signal reception fails or no signal was found after 5 minutes, the weather station
repeats the signal search every hour. Press and hold the
end the automatic signal search.
You can start a manual signal search when the automatic signal search is off. Press and
hold the button for 3 seconds to start the manual signal search. Poor DCF reception
should be expected when the weather station is near to metal-coated insulated glass
windows, reinforced concrete, coated wallpapers, electrical devices or when the
weather station is placed in a cellar.
The weather station is synchronised automatically with the DCF time
every day at 3, 4, 5 and 6 am. This is sufficient to keep the time deviation
to within one second per day.
The DCF signal is sent from a transmitter in Mainflingen (near Frankfurt
am Main, Germany). The signal has a range of up to 1500 km, rising
to 2000 km in ideal reception conditions. The DCF signal contains
information such as the exact time and date (with a theoretical time
deviation of one second every one million years!). There is no need to
set the summer and winter time manually. The

Hold down the + button (8) or - button (7) to move through the digits faster.
a) Setting the time and date
You only need to set the time and date manually if the weather station is used outside
of the DCF reception area, in a time zone other than the German time zone or when the
DCF reception is impaired due to the surroundings.
• Press and hold the MODE button (9) until the 12/24 h setting flashes.
• Press the + button (8) or - button (7) to change the setting. Confirm your selection with the MODE
button. The time zone flashes.

the "AL" alarm. The bell symbol
is no longer displayed in the LCD display.
d) Turning off the alarm tone and using the snooze function
• An alarm tone is played and the bell symbol flashes when the set alarm time is reached. The
alarm tone stops automatically after 2 minutes.
• During this 2 minute period, the alarm tone can be stopped for approx. 5 minutes by briefly
pressing the SNOOZE/LIGHT button (13). The bell symbol flashes in the LCD display. The alarm
goes off again after approx. 5 minutes (snooze function). This process can be repeated up to 7
times.

g) Selecting the temperature unit
• Press the - button (7) to change the temperature unit (°C or °F) on the weather station.
• Press the °C / °F button (F) to change the temperature unit (°C or °F) on the outdoor sensor.
h) Displaying the minimum/maximum values
• The weather station saves the minimum/maximum values for each 24-hour day since the last
reset or since the batteries were inserted.
• The weather station displays the minimum/maximum values for temperature and humidity from
the last 24 hours in the LCD display. The values are denoted with "MIN" and "MAX".
• To display previously saved minimum/maximum values for temperature and humidity, press the
MEM button (6). Corresponding data such as date and time flash on the LCD and are displayed
for reference.
• To delete the saved values, press the RESET button (5) with a pointed object. All of the display
icons appear and a short beep indicates that the weather station is ready for use. The outdoor
sensor is contacted again.
i) Measured values outside of the measurement range

is displayed when a saved value is under 20% relative humidity.
• LL.L is displayed when the measured temperature is lower than the minimum value in the
measurement range; HH.H is displayed when the measured temperature exceeds the
measurement range.
j) Daylight saving time (summer time)
is displayed when the DCF signal indicates daylight saving time.
k) Comfort level indicator
• The comfort level indicator (10) shows the comfort level for the current weather (cold, warm or
pleasant weather conditions).
l) Temperature warning
• The weather station features a warning function, which emits an acoustic warning when the
