Caution
It is possible that contaminant built up inside the unit may cause
drain blockage, bad smells, water leaks or shortage of air flow,
cooling or heating performance. Contact a trained professional to
investigate and clean the system. Attempting to open and clean
the inside of either indoor or outdoor unit can damage the air
conditioner.
Proper maintenance ensures proper functioning of the air conditioner and
prevents damage to the units.
At the beginning of each season you should check the following:
There are no physical obstructions at the air inlet or outlet of either
indoor or outdoor unit. These will prevent the unit from operating
correctly and may cause expensive damage to your unit.
The electrical cables are in good condition, particularly the earth cable. If
any are damaged, they should be repaired or replaced by a trained
professional.
Check that the drains are not blocked so that water can be properly
drained away.
Check that the filters are properly cleaned.
At the end of the season you should do the following:
Run the air conditioner in fan mode for 2-3 hours to remove the moisture
in the indoor unit.
If the air conditioner is not going to be used for a long time, unplug the
power. If the unit is turned off by the controller, it still consumes a small
amount of power.
