9. Appliance-specific information

The appliance-specific instructions, as described in this chapter, have precedence over the instructions in the

The appliance-specific information as described in sections 9.1 to 9.7, applies to all models described in this
manual. Additional installation instructions (per appliance) are described in section 9.8.
Smoke control area United Kingdom
The DG fires Odin and DG Oval have been recommended as suitable for use in smoke control areas
when burning wood.
9.1 Unpacking
The appliance was packaged and screwed to the transportation pallet prior to transport. This pallet can be
removed as follows (see appendix 2, fig. 3):

First check for damage all around the shipment.
Ø
Remove the box by removing the staples at the bottom of the pallet.
Ø
Unscrew the 4 screws from the transport bracket on the pallet and remove the pallet.
Ø
Then remove the transport bracket from the appliance by unscrewing the 4 bolts.
Ø
Dispose of the transport bracket in accordance with regulations.
Contact your supplier if your appliance is damaged.

9.2Air slide, restrictor tray and flue exhaust
9.2.1 Air slide
When installing and maintaining the appliance, check the operation of the air slide (see appendix 2, fig. 4).
It is possible that steel grit ended up in the air slide during transportation. If the air slide does not run smoothly,
it has to be cleaned. For this, the air slide should be disassembled.
When disassembling the air slide, proceed as follows (see appendix 2, fig. 4):
If an outdoor air connection has been mounted, it should first be removed, before the air slide can be

disassembled (for removing the outdoor air connection: see section 9.3).
Ø
Remove the vermiculite plates from the bottom (see section 9.6).
Ø
Remove the assembly bracket by unscrewing the 4 bolts
Ø
Then remove the square plate that lies in a recess under the vermiculite bottom plates.
Ø
Loosen the Allen screw with the Allen wrench.
As soon as the bolt is loosened, the air slide will drop down. Catch the air slide!

Ø
Check the air slide and clean it if necessary.
When placing back the air slide, the actions described for disassembling it must be observed in reverse order.
