Grilling

WARNING
The appliance must be installed with a clearance of at
least 1.5 meter around the appliance and to combustible
or non-combustible materials.
WARNING
Follow all leak test procedures carefully in this manual
prior to operation.
WARNING
Never operate the appliance without the heat reflective
plate installed.
CAUTION
GREASE FIRES
• Putting out grease fires by closing the lid might be im-
possible. Grills are well ventilated for safety reasons.
• Do not use water on a grease fire. Personal injury may
result. If a persistent grease fire develops, turn control
knobs and gas cylinder off.
• If appliance has not been regularly cleaned, a grease
fire can occur that may damage the product. Pay close
attention while preheating or burning off food residues
to insure that a grease fire does not develop. Follow
instructions on general appliance cleaning and clean-
ing the burner assembly to prevent grease fires.
• The best way to prevent grease fires is to regularly
clean the appliance.
Before cooking for the first time, operate the appliance for
about 15 minutes without any food. This will heat clean the
internal parts and dissipate odour from the cooking grate.

Control knobs

Each tube burner is controlled by a control knob. Each con-
trol knob has a red bar to show its setting. Once a burner
is lit, the temperature can be set as required by setting the
control knob between HI / high temperature and LO / low
temperature.

Ignitor lighting

The appliance features a piezo igniter system that allows
easy lighting of the gas grill:
Do not lean over the appliance while lighting.
1. Set all control knobs to off (red bar pointing upwards).
2. Open the lid.
3. Open the gas valve of the gas cylinder.
To light the tube burners:
4. Push the knob of the desired burner in and turn it to the
left. The burner will ignite automatically.
5. Wait until the burner is lit and turn the knob further to the
lower left.
6. If required, ignite the remaining burners the same way.
To light the side burner:
4. Open the lid of the side burner.
5. Push the knob of the desired burner in and turn it to the
left. The burner will ignite automatically.
6. Keep the knob pushed for about 10 seconds. The burner
is supplied with a control unit that blocks the independent
gas supply until the minimum temperature is reached
7. Wait until the burner is lit and turn the knob further to the
lower left.
If the burners do not ignite after 5 seconds (10 seconds for
the side burner), set all control knobs to off (red bar pointing
upwards) and close the gas valve of the gas cylinder. Wait for
5 minutes. Repeat the above procedure.
If the side burner lid accidentally closes during use, do not
touch it with your hands. Please turn the knob of the side
burner to the "OFF" position immediately. Wait for the lid to
cool down before touching it.

Manual lighting

If the electric ignitor of the appliance does not work or you
like to light the appliance manually using a match:
Do not lean over the appliance while lighting.
1. Set all control knobs to off (red bar pointing upwards).
2. Open the lid.
3. Open the gas valve of the gas cylinder.
4. Light a long match and enter it into one of the burner
ports above the control knobs.
5. Push the control knob of the corresponding burner in, and
turn it to the left.
6. Make sure the burner lights and stays lit.
7. Adjacent tube burners can be lighted by pushing their
knobs in and turning them to the left.
If the burners do not ignite after 5 seconds, set all control
knobs to off (red bar pointing upwards) and close the gas
valve of the gas cylinder. Wait for 5 minutes. Repeat the
above procedure.

Use of an optional grill spit

The grill is equipped with two guides for an optional grill spit.
Only use accessories approved by HORNBACH. Pay attention
to the manual of the grill spit.
