MAINTENANCE
SAFETY VALVE
You can find the safety valve on the incoming pipe (cold
water) to VPB 500, VPB 750, VPB 1000.
The water heater's safety valve sometimes releases a little
water after hot water usage. This is because the cold water,
which enters the water heater to replace the hot water, ex-
pands when heated causing the pressure to rise and the
safety valve to open.
The function of the safety valve must be checked regularly.
Perform checks as follows:
1.
Open the valve.
2.
Check that water is flowing through it.
3. Close the valve.
CAUTION!
If this pressurised water heater develops a fault,
e.g. a flow of hot water from the overflow pipe,
turn the heat pump off and contact your installer.
CAUTION!
Do not remove or adjust any components that are
part of this pressurised water heater. Contact your
installer!
TIP!
The safety valve is not delivered with VPB
500, VPB 750, VPB 1000. Contact your installer if
you are unsure how to check it.
SACRIFICIAL ANODE (ONLY VPB 500, VPB
750, VPB 1000-E E)
The water heater is equipped with a magnesium anode that
provides extra corrosion protection. Wear to the anode is
partly by sacrificing itself for pores in the enamel and partly
by sacrificial consumption due to the chemical composition
of the water.
Check the consumption of the anode within a year and then
regularly thereafter. When the anode is new it has a diameter
of 21 mm. When the diameter has reduced in its most used
area to below 10 mm, the anode is consumed and must be
replaced. When replacing anodes in confined spaces, there
is a chain anode available that only requires about 180 mm
space above the water heater.
If there is no anode consumption after a few years, this could
be due to poor conductivity in the water and analysis of the
water is recommended.
16
CAUTION!
The sacrificial anode is a consumable part! For
special water qualities, a direct current anode is
recommended.
EMPTYING
The water heater
Draining is performed through the siphon (using hose) in
the cold water connection (XL3).
Charge coil
Draining is performed through the siphon (using hose) in
the docking connection, return to heat pump (XL9).
See section Design on page 19 for more information on the
location of the connection.
SERVICE
If servicing is required, contact your installer.
NOTE!
You need the product's (14 digit) serial number for
servicing and support.
Servicing should only be carried out by persons with the
necessary expertise.
When replacing components on VPB 500, VPB 750, VPB
1000 only replacement parts from NIBE may be used.
