Are the incorrect leads used?

Suggested solution
Replace with new battery.
Check display (AC/DC) and switch
the function if required.
Check the terminal assignment or
connection of the probe leads.
Deactivate the HOLD function.
Check the 10 A F2 fuse
Check the 0.4 A F1 fuse.
