Schulter-Fix Universal (SFU)
Shoulder abduction orthosis
Purpose
Schulter-Fix Universal is a shoulder joint orthosis for immobilising and relief with
abduction position. The orthosis may only be used for shoulder treatment.
Mode of action
This shoulder orthosis holds and fixates the arm in place at the shoulder joint in
the required abduction position. Due to the numerous options for adjustment, the
orthosis can be individually adjusted to the arm to rest in the therapeutically desired
position. Abduction angles of 0°, 30° and 45° may be set.
Indications
Reconstructions of the rotator cuff, shoulder luxations and distorsions, subcapital
humerus fractures, SLAP lesions.
Contraindications
Larger skin injuries or diseases, extensive haematomas and severe swellings.
Side effects
When properly applied, no side effects are known to date.
Components
(1) Torso belt
(2) Wedge pad
(3) Shoulder strap
(4) Arm rest
(5) Forearm strap
(6) Wrist strap
Fitting instructions
The orthosis may be fitted on the right side as well as on the left.
Fitting the torso belt (1)
Place the torso belt around the body below the chest and close the Velcro fastening
at the front.
Fitting the wedge pad (2) for abduction
Abduction angles of 45° and 30° may be set with the wedge pad. The appropriate
side of the pad must face upward. Now, fasten the wedge pad with the open
fastening area on the torso belt. Make sure that the fastening area is completely
covered. Omitting the wedge pad results in an abduction angle of 0°.
