4.1.1 Changing the carbon brushes
The Automatic-Stop feature protects the machine from defects due to excessively consumed carbon brushes. The
machine is equipped with two carbon brushes, i.e. one is installed in each handle half.
The carbon brushes must be changed as follows:
• Unscrew two screws at the back of the EBI and slide the cover towards the cord.
• Detach the connectors (A) with the cupper shielded cable from the machine.
• Cut the small tie rap and detach the connectors (B) of brown wire
• Slide the carbon brushes holders (C) UP and remove the carbon brushes in both holders.
• Place the new brushes in the holders, making sure the brush with brown wire is in the correct holder.
• Clean carbon brush holders.
• Put the carbon brushes holders back in their original position making absolutely sure not to change the arrangement
of the elements of the carbon brushes
• Reconnect all connectors (A & B) and use a small tie rap to fasten the brown wire back to the body of the EBI.
• When everything is connected apprropriately slide the cap back in its orininal position and fasten it with the two
screws.
4.1.2 Changing the sacrificial adapter
In order to ensure correct operation and extend the service life of the bevel heads, it is essential to ensure that the
surface of the adapter spacer is unblemished, i.e. without pits, deep scratches and\or broken edges. The adapter
pin should also be undamaged and retain its original length. The
adapter spacer and/or adapter pin may get damaged under certain
conditions, however both can easily be replaced.
• Turn the flange head until it comes off.
• Remove the hex screw (C) on the side of the spacer (A).
• Then screw both M4 bolts (D), each time by a half-turn, deeper and
deeper in the spacer. This removes the spacer from the spindle (B).
• Remove the damaged spacer when it has become free. Unscrew the
two M4 bolts from the spacer you just removed and keep them.
• Install the new spacer, ensuring that it rests securely on the spindle
shoulder. Use a rubber mallet if necessary.
• Replace the adapter pin (E), ensuring the top is level with the top
of the spindle.
• Retighten the hex screw on the side of the spacer.
