5.3 Operating
•
Connect the unit to an appropriate single outlet.
•
Prior to first use, leave the unit open for approx. one hour with the temperature set
at 180°C – 200°C. Smoke may be produced as the interior may contain industrial
lubricants. The smoke is not dangerous and will not appear during future use of
the unit.
•
Spray the unit with a non-stick coating three or four times. This will close the larger
pores in the cast iron and create the necessary coating.
•
Set the proper temperature (to 300°C). The optimal temperature for baking waffles
is 200 - 250 °C. Heating time is approx. 10 minutes.
•
After setting the appropriate temperature, the orange indicator will come on to show
that the unit is heating up.
WARNING! Danger of burns!
The unit gets extremely hot when in use. Do not touch hot surfaces of the unit. Use
the unit's handles.
•
Each griddle of the double griddle has its own temperature regulator, thus each may
be set independently.
•
When the desired temperature has been reached, the orange indicator will go off
and waffles may be cooked.
•
Open the griddle. Ensure the upper plate is fully open, so that it 'clicks' into place.
•
Place the waffle (batter) on the lower portion of the griddle and close the top. Press
down strongly using the handle, so that the batter flows evenly.
•
Use a proper amount of batter, as too much will flow out the sides of the unit.
•
Depending on the desired result, the waffle should bake approx. 3 min.
WARNING! Danger of burns!
Clasping hot waffles with bare hands will result in burns! Use only a wooden or
heat-resistant plastic spatula to remove waffles.
