Unter der Bezeichnung „Vectron" kündigte
Siemens Rail Systems im Juni 2010 eine
Lokomotiv-Familie an, zu der auf einer
konstruktiven Basis aufbauend sowohl
Elektro- als auch Diesellokomotiven zählen.
Der dieselelektrische Vectron DE wiegt je nach
Ausführung zwischen 81 und 88 Tonnen und
verfügt über eine Leistung 2,4 MW sowie
eine Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 160 km/h.
Er ist eine Weiterentwicklung des bekannten
Eurorunner und besitzt kleinere Drehge-
stell-Abstände und Raddurchmesser als die
E-Lok-Ausführung, ist aber dafür ca. 1 Meter
länger. Der Kraftstofftank umfasst zwischen
4000 und 5000 Liter. Die Fahrzeuge sind für
den Personen- und Güterverkehr gleicherma-
ßen einsetzbar.

The prototype:
In June 2010, Siemens Rail Systems announced
a family of locomotives under the name
„Vectron", that included diesel as well as
electric locomotives.
The diesel electric Vectron DE weighs between
81 and 88 tons depending on the model and
can reach a top speed of 160 km/h with an
installed power of 2.4 MW. The „Vectron"
is an evolution of the well-known Eurorunner
with smaller gaps between the bogies and
smaller wheel diameters than the electric
locomotive but with 1 meter more length.
The fuel tank holds up between 4000 and
5000 litres of fuel. The locomotives can be
used for passenger as well as freight train
traffic.
