13. Operating
Connect the plug of the hedge trimmer

with the extension cord and the exten-
sion cord with a wall socket.
Use only extension cables which are
approved for outdoor operation.
Remove the blade bar protection (7) by

pressing on the markings on the blade
bar. Pull out the blade bar protection.
Form a loop with the

extension cord and
pass it through the
opening in the han-
dle. Hook the exten-
sion cord on the
cable run.
To unlock the ON/

OFF switch, first depress the safety
button. To start the hedge trimmer,
press the ON/OFF switch (2) and the
auxiliary safety switch (5).
When working with the hedge trimmer
please always hold the unit firmly with
both hands, one hand on the handle (1)
and the other hand on the auxiliary
handle (6 or 15).
For switching off the hedge trimmer,

Before adjusting the angle of inclination

or the horizontal position of the motor
unit, first disconnect the hedge trimmer
from power mains.

14. Shoulder strap (accessory)
Mount the holder for the shoulder strap

as shown on the picture.
Tighten the holder only hand-tight.

According to the desired working posi-

tion, you can mount the holder close to
the handle (Position 1) or near the lock-
ing nut (Position 2).
Below you will find some hints on trim-
ming hedges:
• Before cutting bushes, scrubs or
hedges, remove thick branches or simi-
lar material. Make sure that there are no
small animals hidden in the bushes or
hedges.
• There are different cutting techniques
and certain seasons to be observed
when trimming hedges or bushes. For
detailed information see appropriate
technical literature.
• Please note the local rest periods when
working with the hedge trimmer in
order to avoid disturbances.
• If a hedge has to be cut back very sub-
stantially, trim the hedge in two passes.
• First cut the hedge to
the desired height and
stretch a string along
the hedge at the
desired height. Guide
the blades of the
hedge trimmer at an
angle of 10 – 15° to the
hedge in order to get a
straight cut.
• Trim the hedge to a
trapezoidal shape
cutting from the bottom to the top.
