Programming the SR161/162 with Hyperterminal
After the SR161/162 is properly connected to computer,the hyperterminal is set to 38400b/s,n,8,1.
Supply power to the SR161/162, press "space" key then "enter"key, the screen will display:

The SR161/162 Commands:
The following list describes the valid SR161/162 commands that can be entered when the SR161/
162 is in the Programming Mode.
All commands must be terminated with a carriage return (ASCII 0Dh).
If a command is accepted, SR161/162 will always output the string : &
To change selected parameters,just input right half part of the line, Ie an character followed by the
new numeric data, that is the parameters you want to change.
To change AIS1 receive frequency to 156.5250Mhz,just input
&R1F1565250
Then press a enter, if command accept, a "&" will occur, you may press another enter to show all
parameter in the screen,you may check if the parameter you are changing is correct.
&I38400
Set RS232 interface to 38400b/s in working mode.
&I4800
Set RS232 interface rate to 4800b/s.
After checking that the parameter is properly set,press "Q" to save the changed parameter and the
SR161/162 get into ais receiving state.
(1) Note that if you changed the RS232 interface rate,next time when you want to programme the
SR161/162, you have to use the changed RS232 interface rate to programme the SR161/162.
The default RS232 interface rate from factory is 38400b/s.you set hyper-terminal to 38400b/s,and
programme the SR161/162 interface rate to 4800b/s.next time when you programme the
SR161/162,you have to set your hyperterminal to 4800b/s then can you programme SR161/162.
(2) After SR161/162 power on,if it receive "space" then "enter"key input,it get into programming
mode.if failure to get into programming mode for error key input or error interface rate,you have to
turn off SR161/162power,and turn on the SR161/162 to restart.
There are two lights near the 9 pin RS232 interface.the one marked T/R lights when SR161/ 162
detects that there is signal in the presetted ais channel.the one marked DATA lights when the
SR161/162 detects preamble of ais VDL message. In normal working mode,these two lights on
and off regularry.if T/R light always on that means there is a strong interference signal in the preset
ais channel.
