K When all the connections for the connector are ready and
the connector is screwed down in its place, you attach
the cover with four screws. NB: you do not have to fit the
cover, it is optional.
If the connector has been positioned in a place where the
snails enter, it may be convenient not to fix the cover to
stop snails from using it as a passage.
2.3 Connecting the energizer
L. Fit the energizer on a wall, fence or post under a cover,
but out of reach of children and near a (230VAC) socket.
Install the energizer where there is no danger of damage
to the energizer due to fire or mechanical damage or the
weather.
(The Gallagher M10 energizer has an IPX4 rating, it is
resistant to a splash of water from any direction).
2.4 Connecting the high-voltage cables to the energizer
Connect the earth wires 1 and 2 (see steps D and K)
to the green "GROUND" clip of the energizer. Remove
approximately 20mm (8") of insulation material from both
wires and twist them together. Open the green clip by
pushing on it and insert the ends of the cables into the
clamp. Check that the cable is properly clamped down.
Connect the current wire 3 (see steps D and K) to the
red "FENCE" clip of the energizer. Remove approximately
10mm (4") of insulation material from the wire.
Open the red clip by pushing on it and insert the ends of
the cable into the clamp. Check that the cable is properly
clamped down.
Connect the energizer to a 230Volt socket and check whether the indicator light on the front of
the energizer is flashing. Your snail fencing is ready for use!
ATTENTION!
In situations where cables have to be laid under roads or run alongside buildings, you always
need to use fencing cable with high-voltage insulation to prevent a voltage breakdown.
Never use standard electricity wire or cable that is not approved for such a high voltage level.
