17. Range
The transmission range of the radio signals between outdoor sensors and basis station
is up to 100 m under optimum conditions.
However, the range values refer to the so-called "free field range". However,
this ideal arrangement (e.g. basis station and outdoor sensors on a plain, even
meadow without trees, houses, etc.) never exists in practice.
Due to the different influences on radio transmission, no specific range can be guar-
anteed, unfortunately. Usually, however, operation in a family home is possible without
any problems.
The range can be considerably reduced by the proximity to cables, lines, metal parts,
electronic devices, etc. Thick walls, reinforced concrete built, located insulation glass
windows, etc. also reduce the range a lot.
If you find that the basis station no longer receives any measured data from one or
several outdoor sensors, check the condition of the batteries in the outdoor sensors
first. Then select another site fro the basis station or the outdoor sensors. If necessary,
perform a manual search for the outdoor sensor at the weather station (see chapter
"Manual Search for the Outdoor Sensors").
