Operation
The battery must be fully charged for 3 days before first time operation.
The product must be turned on in order to charge the battery. To do so,
switch the switch on the bottom to the W or RGB position.
Turn off the product shortly prior to sundown (switch to OFF position). That
way you will prevent the light from turning on during darkness.
Turn on the product the next day after sunrise in order to continue charging.
• When the product is turned on and the battery charged, the LED light activates
automatically during darkness.
Switch to W position = white light
Switch to RGB position = colour change
• With increasing brightness the LED light will turn off.
If required, carry out a performance test in a dark room.
Important notes
• The performance of the solar panel depends on the season and the period and
power of the sunlight received. During extended periods of weather without
sufficient sunlight (especially in winter), it is possible that the rechargeable
battery's charge state is sufficient to light the product for a brief time only. This
is because the rechargeable battery charges less energy during the day than the
lights use at night, which inevitably shortens light "ON" time. This can discharge
the rechargeable battery completely over time and thus damage it. For that reason,
turn off the product in a timely manner (switch to OFF position).
• Cold temperatures adversely affect the lifetime of the battery (reduced illumination
time of the LED at night). In order to ensure long, error-free operation, we
recommend storing the product at a dry, warm location during winter (or when not
using the product for a longer period of time). Switch the product off (switch at OFF
position) for this purpose.
• You may remove the rechargeable battery before storing the product and charge
it with a suitable charger. Observe all relevant information provided in these
operating instructions regarding removing or replacing the rechargeable battery.
Removing/inserting the rechargeable battery
Replace the rechargeable battery, once the illumination time reduces
significantly despite the battery being sufficiently charged during daytime.
When replacing the rechargeable battery, make sure no moisture enters
the inside of the battery compartment.
• Turn off the product (switch to OFF position).
• Loosen the 4 screws on the bottom of the product head using a Philips screwdriver.
• Remove the battery compartment cover by pulling the ground spike.
• Remove the rechargeable battery and replace it with an identical one (see
Technical Data). Heed correct polarity.
Never use a normal, non-rechargeable battery.
Make sure the rubber seal has been installed correctly around the battery
compartment.
• Reverse these steps to reassemble the product.
Cleaning and care
• Never use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions, as such would
damage the housing (discolorations).
• Never point a water jet of a high-pressure cleaning device at the product, as such
could damage the seals.
• Besides occasional cleaning, the device is maintenance-free.
• Let the product cool down sufficiently before cleaning.
• Use a clean, soft and dry cloth to clean the housing. For more stubborn dirt, slightly
moisten the cloth with a little lukewarm water.
• Do not apply too much force to the housing in order to avoid scratching.
Disposal
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the
household waste. At the end of its service life, dispose of the product in
accordance with applicable regulatory guidelines.
Remove the rechargeable battery and dispose of it separately from the
product.
b) (Rechargeable) batteries
You as the end user are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all
used (rechargeable) batteries. Disposing of them in the household waste
is prohibited.
Contaminated (rechargeable) batteries are labeled with this symbol to
indicate that disposal in the domestic waste is forbidden. The designations
for the heavy metals involved are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb =
Lead (name on (rechargeable) batteries, e.g. below the trash icon on the
left).
Used (rechargeable) batteries can be returned to collection points in your municipality,
our stores or wherever (rechargeable) batteries are sold.
You thus fulfill your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the
environment.
