When operating with the optional recycling pump and water is circulating across the pre-cooler, the cycles of
concentration need to be determined to prevent excessive build-up of impurities. The cycles of concentration
are the ratio of the concentration in the circulating water compared to the concentration in the make-up water.
For example: If a given make-up water had 100 ppm of chlorides, it would be possible to run the system at 300 /
100 equals 3 cycles of concentration without exceeding the 300 ppm of chlorides allowed for a Baltibond unit.
This calculation process needs to be repeated for all the guideline parameters (hardness, sulphates,
alkalinity, etc.) and the lowest resultant cycles of concentration used.

When the PLC is set for recirculation of water, the value for the deconcentration after refills is equal to the cycles
of concentration. This is standard set at 3. In the PLC manual is described how this value can be adjusted.

1. Obtain values of A, B, C and D from below table
2. pHs = ( 9.3 + A + B ) – ( C + D )
