6. Mounting location

This combined detector is designed to recognize toxic carbon mo-
noxide produced by incomplete combustion, such as that emitted
by appliances, stoves, fireplaces and car exhausts. It also triggers
when the room temperature exceeds 60°C. In an optimal setup, a
combined detector should be installed in every room where there is
a fuel-operated appliance.
The following points should be considered when deciding on the best
mounting location:
- Combined detectors should be placed in rooms where there is a
combustion appliance with or without an open flue.
- Combined detectors should be placed in rooms where there is a
combustion appliance and the most people.
- If a combustion appliance is in a room where people are sleeping, a
combined detector should be placed in that room.
- In a residential bedroom, the combined detector should be placed
as far away as possible from any cooking appliances but close to
where the person living there sleeps.
