Toasting
The extent of browning depends greatly on the type, the freshness and the composition
of the bread which is used. An increased protein, sugar or calcium content, for example,
leads to stronger browning, whereas fats and preservatives reduce it.
Initially, depending on your own personal taste and the bread, you should start with a low
toasting setting and increase it in stages until you get an optimum level of browning that
you are happy with.
PLEASE NOTE!
■
Before using the device, make sure the crumb tray is inserted completely.
■
Make sure that the toaster can switch off after the toasting process. Problems may
be caused by objects that block the lowering lever, or by baking products which are
too large in the toasting slots.
1. Insert a slice of bread into each of the toasting slots (1). Do not use slices which are
too thick, because they could get stuck in the toasting slots.
2. Use the rotary knob (3) to set the desired toasting setting between level 1 (light toast-
ing; very light degree of browning) and stage 6 (strong toasting; very strong degree
of browning). PLEASE NOTE: If you use the device over a prolonged period, the
slices which are put into the device later on will be darker than the fi rst slices at
the same toasting setting.
3. Press the lowering lever (2) down until it engages. (The lowering lever only clicks into
place if the device is connected to a power socket.) The device is switched on, the
toasting process starts and the STOPP (stop) button (6) lights up.
4. After the end of the toasting process, the bread and the lowering lever are automati-
cally raised and the device switches itself off. The STOPP (stop) button switches off.
5. Remove the bread carefully from the toasting slots.
6. If you have fi nished using the device you pull the mains plug out of the socket and
allow the device to cool down.
Cancelling the Toasting Process
If the toasting setting is too high the bread could become charred and smoke could
develop. In this case you interrupt the toasting process by pressing the STOPP (stop)
button (6).
The bread and the lowering lever (2) are automatically raised and the device switches
itself off. The STOPP (stop) button switches off.
Toasting Frozen Bread
Set the desired degree of toasting. Place the frozen bread in the toasting slots (1) and
press down the lowering lever (2). Then press the AUFTAUEN (defrost) button (5).
The AUFTAUEN (defrost) button lights up in addition to the STOPP (stop) button (6) and
the toasting process is extended.
Warming Up Bread
If you wish to warm up bread, you place the bread in the toasting slots (1), press down
the lowering lever (2) and then press the AUFWÄRMEN (warm-up) button (4).
