c) Prevent unintentional starting. Make sure that the switch is in the off
position before connecting the unit to the power source and/or
battery, picking it up or carrying it. Carrying power tools with your finger
on the switch or energizing power tools with the switch on invites
accidents.
d) Remove any spanner or key before turning on the power tool. If a key
or spanner gets stuck on a rotating part of the electrical device, this may
cause personal injury.
e) Do not overextend yourself. Stand firmly and keep your balance at all
times. This allows for better control of the power tool in unexpected
situations.
f) Correct clothing. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your
hair and clothing away from moving parts. Loose clothing, jewellery or
long hair can get caught in moving parts.
g) If there are facilities for the connection of dust extraction and
collection equipment, ensure that they are connected and used
correctly. The use of dust extraction can reduce dust-related hazards.
h) Do not become complacent with the frequent use of tools and ignore
the safety principles. A careless act can cause serious injury within a
fraction of a second.
4. Use and care of power tools
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your
application. The right electrical device will do the job better and safer at
the speed it is designed for.
b) Do not use the power tool if it cannot be switched on and off with the
switch. Any electrical device that cannot be operated with the switch is
dangerous and must be repaired.
c) Unplug the power cord and/or remove the battery pack, if detachable,
from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing
accessories or storing the power tool. Such preventive safety measures
reduce the risk of the electrical device being started accidentally.
d) Store unused power tools out of the reach of children and do not
allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to
operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of
untrained users.
e) Maintenance of electrical tools and accessories. Check that moving
parts are not misaligned or stuck, that parts are broken and that there are
no other conditions that could affect the power tool's operation. If the power
tool is damaged, have it repaired before you use it. Many accidents are
caused by poorly maintained power tools.
f) Keep the cutting tool sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools
with sharp cutting edges are less likely to jam and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with
these operating instructions, taking into account the working
conditions and the work to be done. Using the power tool for work other
than that intended can lead to dangerous situations.
h) Keep handles and gripping surfaces dry, clean and free of oil and
grease. Smooth handles and gripping surfaces do not allow for safe
handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.
